Only a day after we talked about the growing number of Bitcoin ATMs and their potential for growth around the world, we have news from Russia that says the police recently seized 22 cryptocurrency ATM machines under orders from the central bank of the country.
According to reports by the local news outlet RBC, the ATM developer (named BRRpro) will appeal the action – which definitely incurred economic damage and costs to its reputation, according to Sarkis Darbinian, who is an attorney for the company that defends the ATM company.
The head of BBFpro Artem Badarev, on the other hand, told RBC that the company does not understand the action and that there were no preliminary inquiries from the prosecutor. He also said that one of the employees conducting the seizure said that the investigation process will last for about six months.
Meanwhile, all of the 22 cryptocurrency terminals (ATMs) were located in stores, bars and shopping centers in nine cities within Russia. The attorney for the Center of Digital Rights now claims that there is no rule against buying cryptocurrency in Russia – and that the company abides by statutory procedures as well as identifies users and pays taxes.
BBRpro is one of the largest Bitcoin ATM providers in Russia, as data from CoinATMRadar shows.

Two Ohio-Based Companies Officially Paid Taxes With Cryptocurrency
“We will never accept won or renminbi or francs or cryptocurrency, or any other currency. You have to relieve your debts to the state of Ohio with U.S. dollars. That’s what we’re currently accepting. This platform just allows for that exchange, basically before that debt is settled to the state of Ohio.”Sprague pointed out that the treasury is reviewing how the program can be expanded and they are looking into the potential risks that can come up by using this method of tax payments. Ohio is working hard to attract blockchain-related businesses to the state. The state has already passed a law allowing businesses to pay taxes in crypto but the State Treasurer Josh Mandel stated that the legislation ‘’pants a flag’’ in Ohio regarding cryptocurrency adoption. Two days ago, the County Auditors’ Association of Ohio announced the gathering of a group that will work to explore the benefits of blockchain in real estate and transfer of land titles.
