In today’s crypto news, we are covering the blockchain voting sphere, especially the one in South Korea where there is a new trial on a system based on distributed ledger technology (DLT). Surprisingly for many, the system turned out successfully.
As The Korea Times first reported, the development of the blockchain-based voting system will be finalized in December. Meanwhile, the system is a brainchild of South Korea’s National Election Commission and the Ministry of Science and ICT – aiming at enhancing the security and reliability of online voting services.

As one official from the Ministry of Science and ICT said:
“We expect the blockchain-based voting system to enhance the reliability of voting. The ministry will continue to support the application of blockchain technology to actively utilize it in areas that require reliability.”
Aside from preventing any voting falsification, the blockchain-based voting system is also expected to allow candidates and observers quick access to data. As the Ministry and ICT noted, it will be applied at all the stages of online voting and then integrated in South Korea‘s online voting system known as K-Voting.
Blockchain-based voting could increase the likelihood of vote buying as it would be possible to verify whether a voter who has bribed voted has turned their votes according to the system and ticked the choices accordingly.
