On May 20, 2020, $5 million of Steem tokens were seized from 65 different accounts and now the Steem community launched a lawsuit against Bittrex asking for a $16 million payment. The complaint is the latest chapter of the Steem-Tron war.
The key members of the community alleged that the funds from the exchange were stolen and now they want their money back. The plaintiffs are asking the exchange to pay up to $16 million. This is just another step in the long-running saga between the Steem community and the Tron foundation CEO who purchased Steemit Inc. The new witnesses seized $5 million of Steem tokens from 65 accounts and they were transferred to an account but an unknown person with access to the account tried to save them by sending them to Bittrex, while writing a note asking for it not to be returned to the original owners. Bittrex refused and caused outrage from the ones that had their money taken. The Steem saga continues as the lawsuit was filed on May 8 2020 in the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia, filed by Daniel Notestein, Daniel Hensley and others that lost $3 million according to the document:
“Plaintiffs request an injunction compelling Bittrex, Inc. to release the Steem to their designated accounts immediately.”
In the recent Tron TRX news, we reported that TRON seized $5 million STEEM from the Steemit platform from the dissident users after the hard fork. To stop the malicious activities, Steem witnesses controlled by TRON to seize some user accounts that participated in criminal activities by contributing to threats against the blockchain. The GitHub code of the project suggests that 64 accounts will be affected while the network data site estimated that the hard fork will seize 23.6 million STEEM from the users.
