Justin Sun denies claims of paying celebrities to make posts and tweets about TRON but this is not something new for the founder as he has been entangled in controversies since 2017, starting from the plagiarized whitepaper and plenty of negative press. In today’s TRON news we are reading more about it.
Tron found itself in another battle today as one YouTube said that he was offered payment to shill the project to his followers but Justin Sun denies claims like these ones of course. The YouTuber shared screenshots as proof and brought to attention that all celebrities that were tweeting about TRON were paid as well. Marques Brownlee who is a popular tech YouTuber running the MKBHD channel said in a tweet that he was offered and paid by Tron to talk about the network and make it seem like an organic post:
“I’m not interested in learning about TRON, but I’m open to helping you figure out “any information” about this incident. I have email receipts.”
That was a response to Sun’s tweet which stated that the claims he made were “not authorized” by the Tron Foundation and said that TRON will work with the community members to see if the effort was pursued by the latter. Even though Brownlee didn’t take any payments, the foundation allegedly paid celebrities like Ne Yo and Lindsey Lohan to tweet about TRON and its projects building on the blockchain.

Lohan said in a tweet that she was exploring DeFi and liked TRON and Justin Sun while similar tweets were made by celebrities like Ne Yo, Akon, Jake Paula, and Amanda Cerney. None of them disclosed whether the tweets are promotional or not because US laws require all promotions on social media to be disclosed with a “promotional tag.” Sun said that the celebrities were already using Tron because of its speed and low costs.
Brownlee blew open these claims as he shared a screenshot of the main saying that “we need to make it look like a sponsored tweet” and that the Youtuber can make a remark on what he thinks of the coin openly. The alleged email from Tron continued:
“Happy to compensate his honest opinion, nothing dictated or scripted.”
To no one’s surprise, the celebrity $TRX shills on Twitter seem to be sponsored & disclosures deliberately left out.
Should Lindsay Lohan get the same fines that Mayweather did, that would be 70%+ of her net worth (assuming public data is accurate) 📉 pic.twitter.com/SUU9B6VTTp

Jason Choi who is a partner at Spartan Group crypto fund, said that this action could attract massive fines in the US but in the meantime, whether the celebrities were paid or not remains a mystery. Sun, on the other hand, decided to go off Twitter for a while.
