Amazon CEO: The Company Won’t Support Crypto Payments Any Time Soon

The Amazon CEO Andy Jassy says the company won’t support crypto payments any time soon and won’t add them as a payment option on the platform so let’s read more today in our latest crypto news today.

The Amazon CEO says the company is not close to adding support for crypto payments:

“We’re not probably close to adding crypto as a payment mechanism in our retail business, but I do believe over time that you’ll see crypto become bigger.”

However, Jassy who made the comments in a CNBC interview said that he thought it was possible that the company could eventually sell NFTS. Jessy’s crypto comments came amid the recent speculation that Amazon could one day allow customers to pay using crypto. Last summer, the e-commerce giant said it was exploring crypto payments for the platform:

“We’re inspired by the innovation happening in the cryptocurrency space and are exploring what this could look like on Amazon. We believe the future will be built on new technologies that enable modern, fast, and inexpensive payments, and hope to bring that future to Amazon customers as soon as possible.”

Amazon Web Services which is the cloud platform subsidiary for Amazon, advertised for a Head of Product to join the Amazon Managed Blockchain, and the job opening indicated a preference for potential applicants that have experience in the world of DEFI. Amazon’s Advertising FinTech team looked for a Senior Software Engineer to work on the financial ledger and billing systems. The vacancy did not make explicit reference to blockcahin but the URL for the vacancy did. Jassy himself also has a history with Blockchain after he replaced Jeff Bezos and he launched the cloud platform’s amazon managed Blockchain service.

As earlier reported, Amazon advertised for a blockchain-related position in the past but now it is officially hiring for a Digital Currency and Blockchain Product lead. Every once in a while, a job posting will kick off a flurry of rumors in the crypto space as the industry watchers wait to see a new corporation like Facebook or Apple and its readiness to adopt crypto payments.
