Ripple’s developer ecosystem project named Xpring has recently partnered with one of the industry leading gaming platforms based on blockchain – Forte – establishing a $100 million fund that supports game developers. The cryptocurrency news was confirmed in a press release published on March 12 on the company’s website.
The initiative is meant to boost the mass adoption of blockchain technology in the gaming industry – mostly through the increase of engagement and monetization with players. Forte is known for targeting game developers that are running live games economies and have more than 50,000 daily active users and a general interest in blockchain deployment.
According to the Chief Platform Officer at Forte:
“Blockchain technologies’ key innovations unlock vast potential for nearly all forms of digital interaction. Gaming is a $140 billion global industry driven predominantly by digital micro-transaction economies, which we believe will benefit immensely from the integrity and resilience of blockchain technology.”
This way, Forte’s products can be further implemented in the gaming ecosystem. They are known for using the open source Interledger Protocol with Ripple’s XRP token as well as the container-based hosting solution Codius which is meant to facilitate cross-chain transactions.
Forte is officially registered and based in San Francisco and is a startup that is backed by many big industry players. One of them is the venture fund Andreessen Horowitz, as well as the early stage capital firm Canaan Partners and Coinbase Ventures. On the other hand, Xpring is a new Ripple initiative that aims to create a community of developers, entrepreneurs and companies that are engaged in blockchain technology.
Speaking of, blockchain has been making big news on our DC Forecasts crypto news site – and making constant leaps forward – especially in the gaming industry. As of recently, the Ethereum-based digital asset tokenization startup Enjin noted that it will launch a Software Development Kit for the leading game development engine Unity – which will allow Unity developers to create, integrate and manage the distribution of tokens that are compliant with the ERC1155 standard on the Ethereum blockchain.
Previously, the blockchain company HashCash Consultants announced a partnership with a Australian video game developer, rolling out its white label cryptocurrency exchange and tokenization services in this industry.
