EOS receives a major boost in awareness thanks to the latest television show in China that features a popular blockchain RPG called Crypto Sword and Magic as we are about to read in the latest cryptocurrency news below.
The only English-language business program in China named ICS Money Talks aired a piece with a different view on the potential of blockchain gaming. The tokenized gaming creates a whole new revenue stream for the dedicated players and sophisticated traders. As the game token-trader Ricki Shi explained, what once was just a hobby it is now a lucrative way to exchange value:
“I have spent a lot on blockchain games, more than ¥100,000 (~$14,000) but only few cryptocurrency tokens. You don’t realize you paid a lot because you only need a few tokens to play a game. But those tokens can be worth more than ¥10,000 (~$1,400)’’
The gamers and niche developers are not the only ones that are getting onto this emerging craze. As ICS outlined, the multinational investment company Tencent Holdings is now launchings its own high-profile games that the reward players using blockchain technology. The rewards are only provided in digital assets and the timing could not be more perfect. The AAA gaming continues to backslide as a result of the rapacious monetization schemes such as the NBA 2K2C’s notorious gambling promotion. This can result in migration towards the blockchain alternatives since the gamers are starting to search for many meaningful rewards. The EOS fans are happy because the gaming dApps are gradually gaining steam. The DappRadar shows that the trending growth is happening because of the active users and corresponding EOS transactions but there is also plenty from for further growth.
The critics, however, warn that EOS receives a major boost in China only because of something more sinister-centralization. The CIO of Wikipedia and Everipedia Larry Singer, says that the current state of the EOS leadership is too concentrated in authoritarian China.
