IOTA Released New Patched Trinity Desktop Wallet

In the course of investigating missing funds, the IOTA released the new, improved and safe Trinity wallet version for desktop as we are reading in the IOTA news today.

The IOTA Foundation cautioned owners that are attempting to check their balance not to believe the contacts on the official Discord channel. Scammers are reaching out to participants, claiming that they are able to recover lost coins. By now, the IOTA network remains practically closed for around five days already, whilst the network made reports about scoundrel transactions and stolen funds. Users have the opportunity to download the new Trinity wallet desktop version to check balances and report missing funds. The IOTA Foundation team said:

The missing balances are even now under investigation, and value transactions are not permitted through the IOTA network. The team had the chance to close down the network, while the, in essence, revealing its dependent nature on the coordinating server. For now, the developers of the project did not launch the Coordicide protocol, which will permit decentralized consensus, and lastly IOTA balances are for now determined by the server.

This is not the first time that IOTA suffered robbery of its tokens. Besides errors and undiscoverable balances on the distributed graph, IOTA has suffered robbery through tainted wallets. In 2018, a hacker offered a seed generator service that was malicious and as a consequence, he was able to steal IOTA worth $11 million at that time.

Now, IOTA released the Trinity desktop wallet after what could have lost something between $300,000 and $1.6 million worth. The Trinity mobile wallet is supposedly not affected, but users are counseled not to reopen the application before the appearance of a new version. The precise nature of the damage is unknown, but the community thinks that there is a certain probability of third-party vulnerability.
