OpenSea will collaborate with Christie’s like the most legendary auction house in order to hold a series of curated NFT auctions as we are going to read more in our latest cryptocurrency news.
Christie’s is continuing to delve into the digital art scene with the huge announcement that it plans to hold on-chain NFT auctions on the OpenSea marketplace. The auction house made the announcement earlier this week and stated that the first Christie’s X OpenSea auction will launch on December 1st. OpenSea will collaborate with Christie’s to launch a curated NFT auction and their initial one will be open for browsing Until December 3 while bidding will commence on the 4th of December.
The collaboration will enable bidding and payments to be made via the Ethereum network. The first collection will feature a brand new selection of collectibles that were put together by Christie’s HEad of Digital And Online Sales Noah Davis and curator Ronnie Pirovino but it will also be supported by NFT news and analytics platform called NFT now. Featured artists include Alpha Centauri Kid, Andre Oshea, Ash Thorp, Blake Kathryn, EtherRock, DotPigeon, Fvckrender, Joshua Davis, Krista Kim, KEHS, Tom Sachs, Olive Allen, Maciej Kuciara, Mad Dog Jones, WhisBe, GMUNK, and more.
The selected works from the sale will be featured on an exhibition during Art Basel Miami Beach at the Gateway as a sensory experience in downtown Miami that features art and music with the celebration of a new NFT era. Noah Davis said in a press release:
“With this collaboration, we are bringing the Christie’s brand boldly onto the blockchain. Our collaboration with OpenSea allows us to combine our expert curation and prestigious provenance with the convenience of decentralization.”

He added that he hopes this will march the start of a new era for NFT sales at the popular auction house. Christie’s concluded the sale of its first NFT with the popular “Everydays: The First 5000 Days” by Beeple that gathered $69 million. Also, OpenSea secured $23 million in venture capital backing from Andreessen Horowitz and Mark Cuban. OpenSea is the most popular platform In the NFT marketplace sector. More than $1.67 billion in volume were processed on the platform over the past 30 days and now it has a daily volume of around $70 million. Also, the reports show that Axie Infinity is still the most popular NFT collection by sales with $171 million shifted over the past week.
