Blockchain.com as one of the biggest wallet providers opens its new office location, fifth by number which shows the intention of further expansion in Europe, according to the company’s announcement in a blog post. According to the wallet provider, the company was considering multiple locations in Europe but chose Vilnius in Lithuania at the end since the country is really committed to innovation and a huge supporter of blockchain technology.
Blockchain.com also said that will be opening job positions that will be announced over the following weeks. The Minister of Economy of Lithuania Virginijus Sinkevicus said:
“We’re thrilled to welcome Blockchain to Vilnius. The presence of a company as well-known as Blockchain will put Lithuania in the spotlight of the international blockchain community.”
According to the website, the wallet provider has its headquarters now in Luxembourg but has offices in New York, London, and San Francisco.
Back in 2014, the Central Bank of Lithuania issued a few warning to the consumers about the high risks related to cryptocurrencies but the bank has switched its stance and issued an updated notice on digital assets and initial coin offerings which allows for the creation of investment funds.
Also, the documents point out that the financial market participants will be allowed to use crypto services that will let people use cryptocurrencies within the crypto industry as long as they are compliant with the anti-money laundering policies. However, crypto payments are still not allowed for the financial institutions in the country.
