BTC Billionaire Ben Delo who happens to be the co-founder of the crypto exchange BitMEX will give a majority of his wealth to Giving Pledge. The organization was founded by Bill Gates, Warren Buffet and Melinda Gates and we are about to find out more in the altcoin news below.
The 35-year-old entrepreneur is the youngest self-made BTC billionaire and is the latest to join this movement. Delo will reportedly donate the majority of his $3.6 billion net worth to the philanthropic organization to alleviate catastrophic threats of nuclear war and climate change. He was quoted saying:
“My ambition now is to do the most good possible with my wealth. To me, this means funding work to safeguard future generations and protect the long-term prospects of humanity. This includes mitigating risks that could spell the end of human endeavour or permanently curtail our potential”
The Giving Pledge was established in 2010 by the Gates family and Warren Buffet by inviting wealthy individuals to pledge at least a half of their wealth for good causes. About 200 wealthy people signed the pledge including Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, Michael Bloomberg and Delo as last. The BitMEX founder stated about the pledge:
“As a schoolboy in Britain aged 16, I was asked to list my ambitions for the future. I answered concisely: “Computer programmer. Internet entrepreneur. Millionaire.” I have been incredibly fortunate to exceed those goals, and I’m grateful to be in a position to sign this pledge.”
Delo is not the first btc billionaire to join the club. Brian Armstrong, the founder of Coinbase also signed the Giving Pledge as noted in the latest cryptocurrency news. Armstrong wrote that it is important to look beyond one’s own ambitions:
“About ten years ago I wrote down a goal: “start a billion dollar tech company.” I associated a billion dollar valuation with scale and impact. It meant creating a product that reached millions of people around the world and building an amazing team to do it.”
Also, the founder of Ethereum Vitalik Buterin donated about $300,000 in order to help crypto startups begin their operations. Delo himself contributed to many non-profits mainly in the artificial intelligence sector.
