The Malta-based crypto exchange OKEx is the latest name joining the blockchain project of the Korean social messaging giant Kakao. Along with other major exchanges, OKEx noted that it hopes its involvement with Klaytn (as the public network is named) will help and encourage the blockchain adoption all around the globe.
The cryptocurrency news show that the major exchanges joining Kakao’s blockchain division will be aimed at improving a lot of things. OKEx now joins the fellow crypto exchange Binance as a partner of Klaytn but in a different capacity.
Meanwhile, OKEx is one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency asset exchange platforms. It recently announced a new partnership, where the company is joining Klaytn – a public blockchain project by Korean messaging company Kakao. The cryptocurrency trading company has become one of the project’s Ecosystem Partners.
For now, the Fellow Ecosystem Partners include the major exchanges Binance and OKEx as well as Samsung Blockchain, IDG Capital, and Shinhan Bank. Klaytn has recently defined the role of the ecosystem on their website, explaining it as:
“Ecosystem Partners are the leading business partners whose great networks and portfolios allow many different service providers to join Klaytn platform and contribute to increasing Klaytn’s market share.”
The Head of Operations at OKEx, Andy Cheung, also noted that the crypto exchange is now excited to be part of the Klaytn blockchain project. He added:
“Exchanges and projects itself should work together to define and adopt standards that will promote digital asset adoption globally.”
As mentioned, OKEx is joining major exchanges but is not the only big name from the industry. As it recently partnered with Klaytn, IBS Intelligence reported on Binance joining the project as well.
“Klaytn Governance Council is an alliance of multinational businesses and organizations, responsible for operating the consensus node network and driving the ecosystem growth,” the report read.
With this, Binance joins LG Electronics, Union Bank and 22 other companies of the Council. For those of you who don’t know, Kakao is the company behind KakaoTalk, an instant messaging application that is very popular in South Korea – and an app that is thought to be on as many as 93% of the smartphones in the nation.
