A Reddit-inspired platform Discussions.app and the expansion to the Telos network will collaborate on the tools to record Twitter and other social media accounts on the blockchain as we are reading further in our blockchain news today.
The Reddit-inspired platform will collaborate with Telos to record Twitter and other social media accounts and contacts for the blockchain enabling migration between the platforms. The first project to come out of the collaboration will be the identity system that is decentralized which will allow users to record their accounts and contacts from the social media giant Twitter and other social networks to the blockchain if a ban is to occur.
In the social-media age, the users spend a lot of years growing networks and followers on different platforms and this could work but it can be destroyed by the arbitrary decisions from the networks. Discussions.app addresses can allow users to migrate across platforms without having to lose their valuable identities. The chief architect Douglas Horn of Telos explained:
“It seems that every few days I see another unique voice de-platformed and the connections they invested years building pulled out from under them like a cheap rug — especially in the crypto community. Discussions.app empowers individuals to secure their own social networks immune to the whims of Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.”
YouTube has arbitrarily banned a lot of crypto-related channels in the past few months and even in May, the platform pulled the plug on crypto live streams of the halving event. In addition to digital identity management, Telos will provide the platform with multiple options for advanced governance and Ethereum virtual machines that are able to run on ETH-compatible smart contracts with zero fees.
The Reddit community is one of the most active digital communities in the world. Recently, the company has been working on scaling its recently added Ethereum (ETH) cryptocurrency rewards system and has asked its own community to lend them a hand. After the website started using ETH in May 2020, the Reddit community is now asking for a unique scaling solution proposed by the network. Anyways, the Reddit community asks ETH for a scaling solution in a page which is called the “Great Reddit Scaling Bake-Off,” where Reddit has called on some 466,000 members of the r/ethereum subreddit.
