Samsung tries to protect its users’ privacy by using the blockchain technology in order to guarantee a safer P2P file sharing so let’s read more in our blockchain latest news.
The electronics giant Samsung could be working on a new blockchain-based app to facilitate a secure way to transfer, data, files, and information. Samsung hasn’t given more details but sources believe that the company is developing software called Private Share that already uses the blockchain to prevent file receivers from using the info in ways not authorized by senders. Samsung was seen as the developer of privacy solutions and with Galaxy S10 started implementing crypto wallets in its high-end devices. The company also partnered with blockchain companies like Stellar, Tron, and Enjin.
Private share is now the point where these areas are coming together to try and solve an issue that became popular with the globalization of the Internet. Samsung’s goal of using blockchain technology is to establish parameters before sending a file. For example, if someone wants to make sure that a particular file gets opened by a specific identifier, set an expiration date for the file, and delete it without having the possibility of being recovered.
It’s also possible to prevent screenshots or to even save info by unauthorized means. However, Samsung pointed out that there’s no defense against some solutions like taking down videos or pictures of information using external devices. While these applications do exist still, the use of decentralized and robust technology that will be crypted, will provide a higher level of security. Applications like WhatsApp and Snapchat were cracked in the past and allowed users to save unauthorized content on their mobile devices. The data storage on central servers is a huge weakness that was already exploited by hackers because of what happened with Snappening and the hack of Apple iCloud servers.
In addition, the users can be more confident that their private files will not be spied on by Samsung since there will be no way for the company to access them because of the P2P encryption. It is yet to be seen if this implementation will be available but there’s hope that it will be announced with the new line of smartphones by Samsung. The Galaxy S21 could be shipping as early as 2021. The company could start rolling out new blockchain-based technologies into other devices as it did with MusicShare or Quick Share that is already available for the premium lineup.
