IOTA Coordicide 2.0 Guide Has Just Been Released: Report

According to the blog post, Coordicide was almost ready as the researchers resorted to making use of informal terminologies that turned out quite ineffective. In order to solve this, the IOTA research team came up with the idea of creating new terms to make it easier for the users on the platform. With IOTA Coordicide 2.0 launch around the corner, the team decided to share the newly formed terminologies and their meaning. The guide with the important specifications and technologies would ensure seamless communication between the community members.

According to the blog post, IOTA coordicide protocol upgrade has three segments: network, application layers, and communication. The network layer oversees the transmissions and connections between nodes. The communication layer servers as a standard platform for sharing, storing, and transferring information. The application layers facilitate the designing and creation of Dapps by developers on the platform. This layer is in charge of the lower internet communications and it is highly technical and also makes use of auto peering, peer discovery modules to connect the different nodes on the platform.

The next layer is the information center where you can store and transmit information. It also houses the distributed ledger or the Tangle with a few new features added on the layer. The signature tangle will be known as a message tangle where the transactions will be known as messages. In the new protocol, no confusing terms will be used. They will instead be referred to as the parents where the messages will have to contain the issuing node ID, timestamp, and the date and signature of the issuing node. Iota believes that the term message is better than the term transactions.

The application layer facilitates smooth operation of applications on the tangle so anyone can build applications on this layer. However, they first have to run a few applications to allow the smooth running of the protocol.  On the IOTA 2.0 protocol, the fundamental unit of data is known as an object. Every object has a type and size and a payload filed that contains another object. The blog post also contains a list of all terms along with their definitions for instant reference.
