The Tezos NFT market Hic et Nunc marketplace disappeared without any explanation while its biography on Twitter was updated with the word “Discontinued” as we are reading more in our latest Tezos news today.
The Tezos NFT market Hic et Nunc disappeared but then it tweeted its own smart contract right after. The website for the leading Tezos NFT marketplace disappeared with no explanation with the only trace being noticeable being an update to the Twitter bio which read “discontinued.” Right after it disappeared, the Twitter page bid the community a firewall by tweeting the smart contract for the marketplace.

Outside of the Twitter activity of the NFT marketplace, no formal explanation was given for the sudden disappearance but the speculation is rife. According to the crypto artist @MrRudeManners, Hic Et Nunc’s developer “RAF” could have taken the decision on a whim that was spurred by negative messages that they recieved. In spite of the total disappearance of the marketplace’s front-end as the smart contract for the NFTs that were listed and immutable so the NFTs can now be seen on objkt.com.
Hic et Nunc launched in March this year and by May, it surpassed OpenSEa as the biggest NFT platform according to the daily active user count. The marketplace had 30,000 unique active wallets with more than double the number of active wallets being on the Objkt tezos marketplace.

Opensea trumped both and boasted just below a million active wallets over the past month. The marketplace is built on the Tezos open-source proof of stake blockchain which was boasted for cheaper mining fees and bigger energy efficiency than Ethereum. The first acolytes to migrate to this marketplace from Ethereum were AI artists such as France’s Joanie Lemercier and Memo Akten which both rely on computing power to generate their work due to environmental concerns as the main factor for the decision to leave ethereum.

Once Ethereum upgrades 2.0 it will have a greener carbon footprint and low transaction fees. In the meantime, Solana is blowing up and you can mint the NFTs that are already boasting the features that we know. While the Tezos project goes down, a few other things are spiking up as well and these things can halt the tide of eco-conscious crypto and it is considered progress.
