Tezos recorded highest number of contract calls in January of this year and there’s a chance in February as well for a new record number with the possibility of new dapps launching alongside the Tezos upgrade amendment so let’s find out more about it today’s Tezos news.
Contract calls are interactions with smart contracts in the form of transactions which is quite important to see the growth in the adoption rate of mainnet smart contracts and since last year the number of contract calls increases to 1209% as of today. Every month there was a new record in the number of contract calls except in November where there was a 10% drop.
January saw a 22% increase compared to December but if we take this percentage into perspective we can see that there’s exponential growth since July. If we are looking at the developer activity, we also continue to see more growth in the activity. In December there was an average of 700 daily new deployments on testnets but there was an average of 930 daily new developments. February will also bring more milestones and new launches. Edo for example is the latest protocol upgrade that will go live on the mainnet soon in February which is a feature upgrade that includes privacy features.
This means that the developers will be able to integrate privacy into smart contracts that will enable them to provide private transactions and will develop “privacy-focused” applications. Edo introduces Tickets which is a mechanism for smart contracts to allow portable permissions to other smart contracts or to launch new tokens. Tickets will improve all challenges that the developers face especially in the decentralized smart contract platforms. Tickets will enable a better way of interacting between contracts and will enable self-custody of the first-class coins/token permissions as well as improve the developer experience.
Kalamint is a platform that can be used to create, collect or sell NFTs and will provide a unique governance design that includes a Guild. Tezex as well is another cross-chain gateway to Tezos that will enable value to come from ETH to Tezos in just a few clicks so they can move from the current fees on ETH and even see a drop in costs that is about 3000 times cheaper on Tezos. Also, Tezos will reach the new milestone of 1,000,000 funded accounts soon as per the data.
