The South Korean tech giant Samsung is in the latest cryptocurrency news for apparently adding support for BTC on its new flagship smartphone. As the news show, Bitcoin is on Samsung Galaxy S10 as well as 32 other coins – all coming to the smartphone’s Blockchain Wallet.
A report from the South Korean national daily newspaper Seoul Kyungjae shows that the service has been updated, all while BTC and Ethereum wallets were automatically generated on the new S10 devices. The report also featured a screenshot in Korean showing that the user of the phone can “add a new token or coin” on the wallet.
Now that Bitcoin is on Samsung Galaxy S10, the report also shows that 33 cryptocurrencies in total are now compatible with the phone. These include Maker (MKR), the NPXS token by Pundi X as well as the Basic Attention Token (BAT). Moreover, in the past few hours, a Reddit user also posted an image of what appears to be a screenshot of their Samsung Blockchain Wallet with live BTC and ETH wallets – this time in English.
Meanwhile, the newspaper showed that a Samsung Galaxy Store spokesperson is stating that customers will soon be able to create wallets for tokens used by Samsung-affiliated dApps. Many best cryptocurrency news sites are reporting that Bitcoin is on Samsung’s new phone.
This move basically means that millions of Samsung smartphone users will soon be able to use BTC with apps through the Blockchain Wallet that the company began including on its flagship devices, starting with the Galaxy S10 earlier this year.
As previously reported on our altcoin news site, Samsung first indicated that its intent was to add BTC support earlier this month, along with a notice about its forthcoming blockchain Software Development Kit (SDK) on the developers’ website. Currently, the kit is restricted to the nations of Canada, Germany, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, the United States of America and the UK.
According to Seoul Kyungjae which is the news source here, Samsung has recently added the Dent dApp to its store, too. For those of you who don’t know, Dent is designed to allow users to trade mobile data using PayPal as well as a variety of cryptocurrencies.
