The Bitcoin Lingo: Informal words you need to know

So, when you are on a cryptocurrency Slack channel, Chatrooms, Telegram group or just a group of individuals discussing cryptocurrency’s these are some commonly used jargons or loosely slangs you will often hear. So next time you are in a group speaking about cryptocurrencies make sure you are acquainted with these words.

The following list of words have been picked up from various groups or channels which were found common and interesting.

• HODL: HODL was a actually a typo error for “Hold” which later took face of short form for “Hold On for Dear Life”
• ATH: Again, a short form for “All Time High”. This means that the price of a certain coin has broken all of its past records and is trading at all time high prices.
• FUD: “Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt” This term usually refers to investors who are uncertain of the situation.
• CHOYNA: A distorted form of the word China which is deliberately done to refer to the country China as it has been on of the leading and dominant players in the Bitcoin space influencing Bitcoin mining and trading activities
• ADDY: Here referring to a cryptocurrency’s public key
• To The Moon: The reference here is toward the skyrocketing price of a cryptocurrency which is in a upward trend
• Whale (BullWhale): The term coming from the gambling word which means a trader with a big account who has a bullish view on the price of a specific cryptocurrency. These are usually referred as bullish whales
• Bearwhale:  Complete opposite to Bullish Whales, Bearwhales are trader with big accounts but with a bearish view
