The ETH social video network and app named Pepo has integrated with the video conferencing platform Zoom in order to facilitate live streaming, the latest cryptonews show. Pepo Live Events is right now exclusively available in beta on the platform’s website and hasn’t given an estimate for when it plans to enable mobile functionality.

Only the Pepo community admins are currently able to stream live. The ETH social video network, however, can let participation in the live events. All of the events streamed on the platform are recorded and limited to a time limit of three hours.

Pepo’s decision to integrate the Zoom app suggests an increase in demand for live streaming services during the coronavirus lockdown. The social app launched last October at DevCon 5, using the OST platform to allow users to reward each other in its native Pepo token (ERC-20) which is pegged 1:1 with OST tokens.

Meanwhile, the Zoom video conferencing app has been very popular amid the coronavirus crisis as more and more companies utilize it for online meetings and video conferences. As a result of the increased popularity, Zoom’s stock (NASDAQ: ZM) has surged by more than 130% since January 1st, 2020.

Still, many perhaps not-so-savvy pandemic investors failed to do their basic research when seeking exposure to Zoom (ZM) and flocks of traders mistakenly placed bets on the unrelated gaming firm, Zoom Technologies (NASDAQ: ZOOM). This resulted in a rise of 700% in roughly one month before the New York Securities and Exchange Commission halted ZOOM on March 27.

Anyways, what is important for us in the Ethereum news is that the ETH social video network is integrating the Zoom app just like many savvy companies nowadays. The surge in Zoom’s use has been accompanied with increased scrutiny from security researchers – the nonprofit named the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) recently published a warning to users of the video conferencing platform on March 19.

The EFF warned that Zoom administrators are able to access detailed information on the platform including full access to its audio, video and chat transcripts of all calls made using the software which are recorded by its users. This case is yet to be updated in our upcoming news.
