One of the strangest things has recently happened in London, looking like someone won the Bitcoin jackpot when a jinxed Bitcoin ATM started spewing out cash at London’s Bond Street Station. The latest cryptocurrency news show that a Bitcoin ATM apparently malfunctioned while a user was making a withdrawal, sending out lots of cash in the air.
The video of the incident was re-shared on many best cryptocurrency news sites, showing the officers smiling as the jinxed Bitcoin ATM keeps on throwing away money.
Initially shared by one Redditor named skypirateX, the 20-second video shows a security guard who is doing his best to stop anyone from taking the money, all while onlookers are watching the money landing in a duffel bag.
The jinxed Bitcoin ATM apparently started spewing out money after a customer was intentionally withdrawing cash from the machine. According to Adam Gramowski who is the CEO of the Poland-based Bitcoin ATM company, everything was doing well during the Bitcoin ATM transaction. He said:
“As you can see there is a bag in the front of ATM. However our ATMs support large transactions and it is fair to say that a larger, redesigned presenter would be a good solution. Our customer was not particularly careful, although the ATM should be redesigned to cope better with small denominations used in the U.K.”
Still, one theory about the jinxed Bitcoin ATM says that this machine was subject to a jackpotting bug, which is a claim that the company denies. For those of you who haven’t been following our altcoin news, jackpotting is basically an ATM malware which manipulates machines to spit out money, as Wired explains it.
After all, it seems like this time, the case was just one BTC owner withdrawing a large amount of money. The company which manufactured the jinxed Bitcoin ATM has 60 machines around Europe, and its CEO has noted that this problem is apparent only with the UK-based ATM.
Meanwhile, the video of the BTC ATM has sparked thousands of responses, ranging from ones saying “allergy to fiat” to ones stating that “not everything was tested thoroughly.” The comments on Reddit ran to 2,300.
