Today’s Bitcoin price news show that the cryptocurrency is trading with a mix of reds and greens. However, what got the focus of many is that Twitter adds BTC emoji on its social network and the CEO Jack Dorsey apparently suggests it should be accepted within Unicode’s encrypting system.
The co-founder and CEO of Twitter told the media about the newly added Bitcoin (BTC) emoji on February 2 and tagged Unicode, which is the consortium managing the character standard, apparently telling them to do the same.
Dorsey’s tweet showed that whenever a Twitter user writes the Bitcoin or BTC hashtag, an image showing its symbol appears next to it. As Twitter adds BTC emoji to its list of supported emojis, the co-founder of the social media made sure to use it in his latest tweet.

Dorsey’s apparent suggestion that this symbol should be included in the Unicode text encoding standard so that it is visible everywhere (including our website). As Twitter adds BTC emoji to its list, we can see that many other crypto personalities are test-tweeting it, including the founder of Tron (TRX) and the CEO of Bittorrent, Justin Sun.
The Binance news today also show that the official account of the exchange used the BTC emoji and suggested that the cryptocurrency community should join in using this hashtag so that the actual emoji gets trending on Twitter and gets added in the Unicode text encoding standard. Even the CEO of Binance, Changpeng Zhao retweeted the message stating “Let’s do this.”

What’s interesting is the fact that this is not the first time Jack Dorsey (CEO of Twitter) is taking an initiative and standing for cryptocurrency. Also known as the first person behind the crypto-friendly mobile payments app Square, Dorsey announced that Twitter has a dedicated team that helps it develop a decentralized standard for social media.
Square, on the other hand, was recently awarded a patent for a technology which apparently cracks a present barrier in cryptocurrency merchant transactions by providing a real-time system that exchanges crypto for fiat money.
