The soon to be mogul, Rapper Akon has achieved a contract to build a cryptocurrency-powered city in Senegal. The interestingly named Akon City will have an economy that is wholesomely grounded around the symbolically named, Akoin cryptocurrency as we are reading in the latest altcoin news.
Akon publicized that the agreement for Akon City has been achieved in a tweet declaring “Looking forward to hosting you there in the future.” The city will presumably the first city in the world to be powered up on 100% renewable energy, and will be built in the next 10 years in consequential phases. The 2,000-acre real-estate asset on which the city will be built was gifted by the President of Senegal, Mr. Macky Sall, in 2018. It is supposedly:
“Within five minutes of the new international airport, close to the coast and a short drive from Dakar, the capital city of Senegal.”
The well-known rapper Akon, pictures the crypto-city a real-life Wakanda, the fictional nation from the Black Panther stories, of Marvel, and apparently a trade partner of the U.S. All transactions in the city will be made in the famously named Akoin, the cryptocurrency of Akon. As DC Forecast reported Akon announced Akoin for the first time in 2018, together with the great hope for the role of the coin as it “could be the savior of Africa.”
The Akoin ecosystem is still not in operation, even Akoin does not have white paper yet. But the project roadmap gives the hints that an exchange listing and platform launch are to be seen in the first half of this year. However, Akoin will not be restricted only in Akon City, there are plans that the currency should be used all across Africa and even beyond. Akon has also set a humanitarian foundation, Akon Lighting Africa, that has won recognition from the UN for the work of financing solar projects in Africa. The charity at this time claims to be working actively in 25 African countries on different projects.
