After a volatile October, Bitcoin has attracted substantial buying activity between $77,000 and $80,000. More importantly, new research suggests that investors have accumulated hundreds of thousands of additional coins within this range.
We believe the development deserves attention because the next Bitcoin rally may depend less on dramatic headlines and more on what investors are doing behind the scenes.
And one particular number stands out.
Bitcoin Buyers Have Added 312,000 BTC to a Key Price Zone
Source: Bitfinex Alpha, November 2, 2026. The increase is approximately 312,000 BTC, or 42.3%.
According to the latest Bitfinex Alpha market report, approximately 1.05 million BTC now has an estimated acquisition cost between $77,000 and $80,000.
On October 28, that figure stood at just 738,000 BTC.
That’s an increase of roughly 312,000 BTC in only a few days.
At $78,000 per Bitcoin, those additional coins represent approximately $24.3 billion in acquisition-cost value.
This does not mean $24.3 billion of fresh capital entered the market. The metric measures coins last acquired within the price range, rather than net investment inflows.
Nevertheless, the increase reveals an important shift in Bitcoin’s ownership structure.
We see investors establishing positions around prices that could become the foundation for a recovery.
Why $80,000 Could Be Bitcoin’s Next Major Test
Bitcoin’s immediate challenge is straightforward: reclaim $80,000 and demonstrate that buyers can defend the level.
Bitfinex identifies approximately $81,300 as the next significant resistance area.
If Bitcoin moves above both levels, the market could begin testing higher prices where previous buyers may be waiting to sell.
However, we believe the strength of the buying activity matters more than simply crossing a particular number.
A rally supported by actual Bitcoin purchases and renewed ETF inflows would provide stronger evidence of improving demand than one driven primarily by leveraged futures positions.
That distinction is especially important following October’s volatility.
As we previously reported, Bitcoin experienced significant liquidations during its earlier move below $80,000.
The next advance could offer an opportunity to evaluate whether market participation has become healthier.
A Surprising Signal From Bitcoin Futures
The derivatives market provides another interesting piece of the puzzle.
Bitfinex reports that aggregate Bitcoin futures open interest increased 12.1% over 19 days, reaching approximately 694,728 BTC by October 31.
During that period, Bitcoin’s price declined 5.3%.
Why does this matter?
Rising open interest alongside falling prices indicates that traders are opening or maintaining substantial positions even as the market adjusts.
The figures do not establish that every new position is bullish. However, positive funding rates suggest long exposure remained prominent.
We believe the next useful signal will be whether futures positioning stabilizes while spot demand strengthens.
Bitcoin’s longer-term investment story remains closely connected to growing institutional access.
We previously explored how Bitcoin ETF holdings remained resilient during a major price correction.
That longer-term perspective helps explain why short-term volatility does not necessarily determine Bitcoin’s future adoption.
Three Price Levels Worth Watching
The latest research gives us three particularly useful reference points.
$77,000: The lower boundary of the current accumulation zone. Holding this region would support the case that buyers are defending their positions.
$80,000: The immediate psychological and technical target. Reclaiming it with stronger spot demand could improve momentum.
$81,300: The next resistance level identified by Bitfinex. A sustained breakout would suggest Bitcoin is moving beyond its recent trading range.
The analysis also identifies a short-term holder cost basis near $75,772, which provides an additional reference if volatility returns.
These are conditional scenarios, not guaranteed outcomes.
Could November Bring a Bigger Bitcoin Recovery?
November presents an interesting opportunity for Bitcoin.
The market is navigating changing interest-rate expectations, institutional investment flows, and shifting demand across traditional financial markets.
Yet the longer-term Bitcoin investment thesis remains supported by its fixed supply, global accessibility, and expanding investment infrastructure.
We recently examined Bitcoin’s unusual position heading into the US midterm elections, including its relationship with the 200-day moving average.
Now, we will be watching whether the latest accumulation translates into stronger price momentum.
If Bitcoin can reclaim $80,000, attract renewed spot buying, and overcome $81,300, the recovery could enter a more convincing phase.
For us, the most interesting story isn’t simply whether Bitcoin reaches $80,000.
It’s whether the investors accumulating Bitcoin today are helping establish the foundation for its next sustained advance.
