The world’s largest corporate Bitcoin treasury just got bigger again, and the way Strategy is funding its buys tells us a lot about where it sees the market heading.
Strategy Inc. disclosed in a Form 8-K filed on November 2, 2026 that it bought 811 BTC between October 26 and November 1 for about $65.5 million.
The average price was $80,846 per coin, including fees.
That lifts the company’s total holdings to 849,327 BTC, acquired for roughly $64.08 billion at an average cost of $75,451 per Bitcoin.
So what does the latest move reveal about the Bitcoin treasury playbook heading into year-end?
How Big Is Strategy’s Bitcoin Treasury Now?
At 849,327 BTC, Strategy holds a little over 4% of Bitcoin’s fixed 21 million coin supply.
With Bitcoin trading near $80,350 late on November 4, according to CoinGecko, that stack is worth roughly $68.2 billion.
Compared with its $64.08 billion cost basis, that implies an unrealized gain of around $4.2 billion at current prices.
Bitcoin is also trading about 6.5% above Strategy’s average purchase price of $75,451.
We believe that cushion matters. It means the company’s treasury remains in profit even after Bitcoin’s pullback from its October 2025 all-time high near $126,080.
How Did Strategy Fund the Latest Bitcoin Treasury Buy?
The filing shows the purchase was funded entirely through Strategy’s at-the-market (ATM) program for its Class A common stock, MSTR.
During the week, the company sold 1,178,552 MSTR shares for $164.0 million in net proceeds.
Of that, $65.5 million went straight into Bitcoin, while $98.5 million was allocated to what Strategy calls “USD Cash.”
According to the 8-K, USD Cash is kept for broader Bitcoin treasury purposes, “which may include acquiring bitcoin, expanding the USD Reserve, broader capital management uses, and other similar purposes.”
No preferred stock was sold through the ATM during the period.
We think this funding mix is telling. Raising equity, buying Bitcoin and topping up cash in the same week shows a treasury managing growth and flexibility at the same time.
Why Is Strategy Buying Back STRC?
The same filing revealed a second, equally interesting move.
Strategy repurchased 2,092,035 shares of its Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock (STRC) for about $208.2 million, funded from USD Cash.
It also used $43.4 million of its separate USD Reserve to pay dividends on its preferred stock.
As of November 1, the USD Reserve stood at $4.79 billion and USD Cash at $132.7 million, according to the filing.
That reserve is designed to support preferred dividends and debt interest. We see it as a key reason Strategy can keep accumulating without being forced to sell Bitcoin during volatile weeks.
We explored the STRC side of the story in our recent piece on how STRC trading at $100 could boost Bitcoin.
What Does the Buying Pace Tell Us?
The 811 BTC purchase is modest by Strategy’s standards, but the consistency stands out.
The company’s public purchase ledger shows five separate buys since late September, totalling 3,327 BTC, including 1,665 BTC, 334 BTC, 250 BTC and 267 BTC before this latest tranche.
Notably, the latest buys came at an average price of $80,846, above its overall cost basis. Strategy is still adding even as prices sit well below last year’s peak.
We read that as a long-term conviction signal. A treasury that keeps buying through pullbacks is treating weakness as an opportunity, not a threat.
The company also retains substantial firepower. The 8-K lists about $18.6 billion of MSTR stock still available for issuance under its ATM program as of November 1.
Why Does the Bitcoin Treasury Model Matter for BTC?
Corporate treasuries add a layer of structural demand that did not exist in earlier Bitcoin cycles.
Since the 2024 halving, the network issues only about 450 new BTC per day. Strategy’s 811 BTC buy alone equals nearly two days of new supply.
Coins bought by long-term treasuries also tend to leave the liquid market. That steadily shrinks the float available to traders.
Combined with spot ETF demand, this creates a powerful backdrop. As our latest Bitcoin ETF flow analysis showed, outflows slowed sharply on November 3 even before any reversal.
When both channels turn positive at the same time, supply can tighten quickly.
That dynamic has historically been one of the strongest tailwinds for Bitcoin price, because new buyers must bid for coins that long-term holders are unwilling to sell.
What Should Investors Watch Next?
Strategy typically files its purchase updates on Mondays, so the next 8-K is likely to be watched closely.
We would focus on three things:
- Purchase size: whether weekly buys accelerate if Bitcoin holds above $80,000.
- Funding mix: whether the company returns to preferred stock issuance or keeps relying on MSTR equity.
- Reserve strength: whether the $4.79 billion USD Reserve stays steady while dividends are paid.
We believe Strategy’s steady accumulation, backed by a multibillion-dollar cash reserve, keeps it firmly positioned as Bitcoin’s most committed corporate buyer.
Each new purchase also reinforces the case other companies are studying as they consider their own Bitcoin treasury strategies.
The coming days will reveal whether Strategy steps up its buying as Bitcoin pushes back toward the top of its recent range.
