Akon’s AKN Token Got Listed On Bittrex 20% Below Listing Price

Akon’s AKN token got listed on the Bittrex crypto exchange and the popular hip hop artist Akon announced that he awaits for other exchanges to list the token as well. he announced that the digital asset Akoin was listed on Bittrex and the trading started earlier this week. Akon and Akoin’s co-founder and president Jon Karas called the addition a major milestone in their recent Livestream. The rapper believes that more exchanges will follow examples set by Bittrex soon. He noted that coin aims to revolutionize the global payment network and especially in the undeveloped countries in Africa. During its appearance, he outlined that he came up with the idea of creating his own cryptocurrency as he had to convert several different fiat currencies while traveling from the US to Africa. Apart from noticing the inconvenience, he found out that the Senegalese native currency had no real value outside the country.

At the same time, crypto-assets were booming and they were introduced to the concept but he decided that this is the solution that we all need. Akoin is planned to power Akon City which is the futuristic city described as the real-life Wakanda. Apart from being the first city with a cryptocurrency as its underlying currency, it will also be entirely run on renewable energy. The reports show that construction will start in early 2021 and some of the most optimistic features include a tech hub, recording studios, a seaside resort, and a film zone called Senewood. If this all goes well, Akon hinted that he will franchise the concept to other African countries.

At the time of writing, Akon’s AKN  token is trading at around 0.000000939 BTC, down by 20% from its opening price. The 24-hour volume is around 17 BTC.

The critics of the project have quickly dismantled the idea saying that the celebrity is trying to draw attention to himself as the futuristic city started to materialize when the KE international secured the contract for $6 billion to create the project. The US-based firm noted at the time that the two phases will be completed in eight years. The construction start date remained undisclosed until recently and according to the reports by the Global Herald, Akon announced the development stages that will start next year.
