Aidan Larkin, the CEO of Asset Reality noted that victims often prey on a few times when why to seek help getting their crypto back:

“If you lose your crypto, it’s a very humbling and lonely experience. And the amount of people who get scammed twice is huge.”

This is why Larkin’s company partnered with MetaMask to launch a new service that can make the process of seeking help miserable. It can also improve the chances of victims getting their crypto back. The New MetaMask tool was announced recently with a new plan to put hacking victims in touch with Asset Realty. The company may help the victims band together and put them in touch with layers and forensic services as well as law enforcement:

“Victims of scams often have difficulty getting sufficient resources and attention from law enforcement. Asset Reality’s offering allows multiple victims of a scam operation to join forces and build a larger forensic investigation against a scam operation. They will take the heavy lifting off the users to build an investigation into each scam operation.”

Alex Herman, a security expert at MetaMAsk said that the partnership came about after the wallet’s head of operations Jacob Cantele became quite frustrated with the existing crypto recovery services that he found to be “vaporware” or simply a scam. Herman added that the company already increased customer service staff to help the fraud victims in the process:

“We wanted to provide a guiding light. MetaMask is paying for this as a service extended to our users. We’ll cover a first-level investigation.”

This involves a new section on the MetaMask website which will invite users to report funds lost to hackers and supply details about how the hack happened. According to Larkin, this will create a slightly more empathetic experience for hacking victims but will supply data to help the crypto owners marshall a new response to a given hack. He added that Asset Reality will use data to trace the stolen assets and in the case of NFT, it can warn marketplaces that their platforms are used to fence stolen funds.
