Former Texas Congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul, from the republican party, officially received his first Bitcoin from the BTC foundation board member Bobby Lee as we are reading further in the bitcoin news today.

Lee announced the gift that he gave to the Former Texas congressman today, nothing that the coin has been loaded into a gold-plated BTC wallet produced by his own company Ballet Crypto. He added that the extra care that was put into customizing the wallet, was only to suit the former congressman better:

 “It was a special serial number AA000820 to match his birthday! And he loves the #Gold color.”

The wallets produced by Lee’s company are non-electronic physical wallets that are meant for cold storage of the cryptocurrency. Their format is very similar to the one of a credit card and they feature the passphrase of the wallet under a scratchable layer.

Paul received the gift at a lunch that happened after the Litecoin summit 20199 also in the presence of the Litecoin founder Charlie Lee who said that all three of them share some ideas:

 “We are all #libertarian — personal liberty and #freedomofmoney.”

The Former Texas Congressman who is an outspoken critic of the Federal Reserve is known for his advocacy of gold. With high respects to Bitcoin, Paul noted that in July, he’s in favor of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology because he supports the competing currencies. Paul’s stance is also in stark contrast with the ideas of the US congressman Brad Sherman who believes that cryptocurrencies that compete with the national currency such as the dollar, should be banned:

 “Cryptocurrency either doesn’t work, in which case investors lose a lot of money, or it does achieve its objectives perhaps and displaces the U.S. dollar or interferes with the U.S. dollar being virtually the sole reserve currency in the world.”

However, many of the US representatives don’t share the same dollar maximalist view as Sherman has. As reported earlier, two congressmen have already shown support for Bitcoin on its 11^th Birthday nothing that the technology created thousands of possibilities for technological innovation and privacy protections.
