As previously reported by DC Forecasts, Facebook’s stance on cryptocurrencies have gone through multiple changes during the past couple of years. The social media company had even banned crypto ads and now it is considering launching its own stablecoin for all of the users of the messaging service WhatsApp which is now owned by Facebook.
The blockchain department of Facebook first started teaming up in May 2018. At that time, David Marcus who is the head of the messaging app Messenger announced that the social media giant is looking into the applications of decentralized technology. Now, there are more than 20 employees with blockchain expertise and the branch is aiming to expand further.
