Professor Nouriel Roubini from the New York University and proclaimed bitcoin-hater, has come again to the public shooting words to the crypto exchanges. He has been long gone from Twitter but something about the BitMEX CEO tweet about bitcoin derivatives volume and the surpassing of the $1 billion in open interest, triggered him so in the latest cryptocurrency news we read more what he said.
There have been many criticisms about the volumes on the crypto exchanges. Roubini, however, noted about the bitMex CEO’s tweet:
“The ‘Real 10’ volume of bitcoin, which refers to the verifiable daily volume of bitcoin coming from exchanges regarded by Bitwise Asset Management for having a legitimate daily volume of over $1 million, is also nearing $5 billion for the first time in 2019. At its low point in March, the Real 10 volume of bitcoin hovered at around $500 million.”
BitMex did not hold back as well. The CEO of the company Arthur Hayes stroke back. He tweeted back about his company’s profits and taunted the Professor Nouriel Roubini about an upcoming debate in Taipei. The debate between the two will be held next month on the 3rd. The debate will take place during the 2019 Asia Blockchain Summit. The event organizers are waiting for the face-off since it is considered as the biggest crypto debate in the history of the crypto industry. Hayes stated on twitter:
“I’m going to wipe the floor with that chump.”
The professor has been very quiet since claiming that bitcoin is dead in a tweet last November saying at that time:
“With BTC down almost 80% from peak (from 20K to ~4K) and all other cryptocurrencies down 80% to 99% I rest my case that this crypto bubble went bust for good. I feel vindicated. So I will take a break for a few days from this toxic Crypto Twitter.”
Roubini took a break for a few months and then as the bitcoin price started to ascent in the mid-June, he came back and claimed that Bitcoin is a right-wing nightmare that facilitates tax evasion, environmental degradation, and money laundering. As noted in the coming altcoin news, the written charges of the professor are also true when it comes to institutional finance. The traditional banking systems are not entirely policing financial corruption.
