The Scaling solution Optimism Scaling solution airdrops tokens to 249,000 wallets but some users were unable to claim the tokens because of the high demand so let’s read more today in our latest cryptocurrency news.
The anticipated scaling solution Optimism airdrop is live for the OP governance token and nearly 249,000 wallets from the users and Ethereum users as well were eligible to claim the tokens. Optimism is a layer2 scaling solution for Ethereum which launched the anticiapted airdrop of the new OP governance token and rewarded the early users of the proejct and other ETH users by sending free tokens to about 249,000 eligible wallets.
Sup sleuths—as you might have guessed, OP Drop #1 launches today. We have NOT officially announced yet, but we’re already experiencing an all-time high demand. We knew everyone would be excited, but holy cow—y’all just couldn’t wait for #OPSummer.

The airdrop was released in April when Otpmism announced plans to launch a decentralized autonomous organization and its OP token which holders can use to vote in the community. The DAO plans to use this revenue from the Optimism transaction ee and fund grants that are designed for public goods like open-source software. Optimism is providing tokens for wallets that used the network before June 23, 2021, with more tokens offered to repeat users that participated in the DAO governance on Ethereum and people who donated to the public goods platform Gitcoin.
The future airdrops are planned as well. The scaling solutions enable faster and cheaper transactions which are possible on the Ethereum mainnet. In the case of Optimism, all of the transactions conducted on the blockchain are rolled out into larger batches and committed to Ethereum’s network in one transaction. The official account of Optimism on Twitter noted:
“We have NOT officially announced yet, but we’re already experiencing an all-time high demand. We knew everyone would be excited, but holy cow — y’all just couldn’t wait for #OPSummer.”
Optimism’s airdrop was preceded by tweets from exchanges like AAX and OKX noting that they will support the token so while the airdrop is underway, most users were unable to claim the tokens because of an immense demand. Some users even claimed that they were listed as eligible for the airdrop but now prove to be ineligible. Optimism also noted that it is working to spin up the server capacity before making an official announcement about the airdrop redemption process. The DAO initiative dubbed Optimism Collective spans two houses, the Citizens House and the Token House. The first is focused on the public goods while the second will govern things like software upgrades.
