According to the Emirates News Agency, the new blockchain-based data platform wants to solve and improve the efficiency of the UAE ministry of health and other health authorities and to bring smart health services. The solution will help the users to streamline the search for health facilities and other licensed medical and technical staff as well as to inquire about the medicine supply chains.
According to the Director of the Public Health Policy Department, Dr. Lubna Al Shaali, the new blockchain-based data storage will help secure a decentralized, encrypted and unchangeable database that will provide high-security protection and can easily verify data validity and reliability. According to the ministry’s plans for introducing artificial intelligence into the health systems, the platform will also feature AI functionalities. Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri who is the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Prevention’s public health policy stated:

Earlier this month, as per the DC Forecasts reports, about 80 percent of the government entities in the United Arab Emirates started using blockchain. Over the past few months, the Department of Economic Development in Dubai announced to be moving to a blockchain-based unified business registry platform and to improve the ease of doing business in the country and to enable license issuers in order to manage trade licenses and corporate registries. Being decentralized, efficient and transparent, the entire healthcare sector will see huge benefits from the blockchain technology. There are some challenges as well ahead but the industries will adapt to the real-world applications when it comes to policy, regulation and patient relationships.
