IOTA contributes to the TechStart Food innovation project in Brazil that promotes start-ups in the sector of innovative solutions for the food supply chain as we are reading in the IOTA news today.
IOTA contributes to a project led by Venture Hub, Food Ventures, and ITAL but the role of the foundation remains unknown. As the foundation already announced, it will contribute to the TechStart Food innovation project in Brazil to start innovations in the food sector over the entire supply chain as IOTA wrote:
“One-third of the world’s food (1.3 billion tonnes) is wasted each year. We’re happy to be part of the #TechStart Food Innovation, the program to accelerate startups that are leveraging the food #supplychain in #Brazil!”
The project focuses on the development of technological promotion of digital solutions for food, beverage, and ingredient chain that will support start-ups and projects as well as establishing links with investors and companies. Start-ups that are interested in participating in TechStart Food Innovation can submit proposals for solutions for different subjects such as safety and distribution, waste and sustainability, new ways of consumption, big data, market information, packaging solutions, plant-based foods, healthy options, and integral use of raw materials.
The president of Conexao.f Alvaro Duarte, believes that the participating start-ups will receive “infrastructural support from one of the most recognized institutions in the food chain, the Institute of Food Technology ITAL which is supported by EMBRAPA for Informatica, the ELDORADO Institute and the IOTA Foundation.”
The Vice President for Business Innovation at Venture Hub stated that TechStart Food is an opportunity for medium and larger companies to interact in a new way with the innovation ecosystem and technology-based entrepreneurship of food and beverage and packaging chain. The Eldorado Institute which is one of the most important institutes will also contribute to its know-how and intellectual capital of businesses acceleration of the program’s startups.
The programs will last about six months and will comprise five stages to provide participants with the experience and learning opportunities in technology and business sectors. Those that will get selected will also have a lot of benefits such as the use of coworking and meeting infrastructure and free access to the APIs.
