The BTC Exchange FTX US is now a platform for crypto spot trading but in the upcoming months, it could feature derivatives and equities trading. Just when the general public started to realize that FTX is a crypto exchange, the company is starting to change things up. FTX US opened its waitlist for stock trading and those who sign up will be the first to learn about the details of the platform as per a tweet from CEO Brett Harrison.

The exchange has been hinting about adding equities for a while now and in January, Harrison tweeted that the FTX US was hard at work on stocks and planned features that will allow traders to track their portfolio performance and see the price quotes as well as view company fundamentals on their screen. After getting $400 million in Series A funding and $8 billion valuations later, Harrison said:

“If someone wants to invest in crypto and stocks, but those services are in two different places, then it means you need to move money around from the traditional financial system to these different accounts or apps.”

The goal is to be more like a crypto-version of Robinhood rather than being like Coinbase. The American affiliate is also eager to add derivatives trading as the crypto futures propelled FTX’s global arm to prominence. The company acquired LedgerX with more plans to add BTC and ETH futures and options to the US Customers in a year.

As recently reported, The FTX will giveaway free BTC during the Super Bowl ads and the Sam Bankman Fried noted that they will give the coins to fans as part of their advertising campaign. The campaign is a part of an effort by FTX to gain a huge brand presence in the more mainstream audience of sports fans considering that the Super Bowl is the most-watched sports event in the US. Sam Bankman Fried is an expert in aggressive marketing tactics and the campaign is no exception so it will not be just a typical giveaway but it will rely on luck and timing.
