Charles Hoskinson announced Gerolamo, which is the IOHK new system that will link Cardano with the enterprise blockchain Atala as we read more in our Cardano ADA news.
The effort will involve a partnership with the Hyperledger Foundation and will become a part of the Hyperledger product line. Gerolamo will help unite the public and private Cardano ecosystem in 2021 as per the announcement. Charles Hoskinson announced Gerolamo as an interoperability system that will link its public blockchain Cardano with the Blockchain enterprise Atala. IOHK served the enterprise clients that wanted to use the Cardano blockchain but they were not prepared to rely on the public blockchain for legal, business, and regulatory reasons.
Hoskinson said that the usual solution for those needs will be the Hyperledger Fabric that is basically a permission ledger infrastructure that will offer enterprise permissioned control in the ledger consensus method. Enterprise chains are quite different from Cardano where the participants can contribute to the consensus. He said that IOHK created Atala previously which is a permissioned blockchain for enterprise use. Agerolamtala is not entirely separate from the public so the blockchains are interoperable. Hoskinson explained that IOHK is now working with the Hyperledger Foundation to make the ADA-Atala workflow into a “turnkey system” that enterprise can deploy:
“We’re going to unify [the ecosystem] in 2021 … some of this have to do with unifying permissioned and permissionless [chains] together … If we get approval in 2021 we’re going to call this “Gerolamo,” because that was the first name of Cardano.”
He added that Gerolamo will compete with Sawtooth and Hyperledger Fabric as it will also exist as a Hyperledger product on its own. It seems that the partnership has been underway since June this year. the Government and enterprise collaborations are one of the main pursuits for IOHK. Hoskinson said that IOHK’s contract with Georgia will bring about 50,000 new users every year. Also, Cardano has a few applications left available to the public but Gerolamo will be quite important.
A new DSL (Domain-specific language) for smart contracts has been announced by Cardano’s founder Charles Hoskinson while revealing the increased efforts in DeFi for Cardano with concrete announcements to follow at the end of the month as per the reports
