French tobacco shops will start selling bitcoin at a 5 percent premium according to the crypto startup Kelperk which confirmed the news in a press release. More about this amazing information we read in the bitcoin news today.
The French company Keplerk confirmed that the consumers will be able to buy bitcoin at more than 5200 French tobacco shops around the country. According to the press release, the customers can buy bitcoin coupons in value of 50EUR, 100EUR, and 250EUR. Cryptocurrencies are still a technical beast for many of the French citizens who have little knowledge about digital wallets and exchanges. However, exchanges are much cheaper to buy crypto but they are not so appealing for many people. Earlier this week, Keplerk decided to make their Bitcoin services available in January despite the rocky regulatory environment in France. About two months later, the company pulled their in-store devices saying they are a victim of their own success.
Keplerk made use of its own crypto wallet but the comments for the app were disabled on multiple app stores after the crypto startup suddenly suspended the tobacconist sales in February. According to the French news and reports, some of the customers had to wait up to nine hours to receive their Bitcoin. The analysis of the BTC block times shows that a block took an average of between 8 to 12 minutes to clear back in January. The industry standard for confirming a transaction is about 6 blocks and this makes up to one hour of reasonable clearance time for most of the transactions which doesn’t add up. It seems like Keplerk is taking orders and buys bitcoin from an exchange and later sends it on to customer wallets. Then they add a 5.5 percent fee for the service.
