The number of companies and organizations that accept BTC and other crypto-assets as payment instruments is growing continuously and the latest coming from the US is the huge US Food chain restaurants Landry’s Inc. Founded in 1980, Landry’s is a privately owned multi-brand dining, entertainment, hospitality, and gaming corporation operating multiple smaller companies. During a recent CNBC interview, Chairman Tilman Fertitta announced the most restaurant brands will start to accept BTC payments soon:
“We’ll have it, probably, within all of our restaurant brands – or 80% to 90% – in the next 90 days, where you don’t have to use a Mastercard or Visa or American Express anymore. You can use bitcoin or other digital currencies.”
The BTC adoption will start with locations of Mastro’s while other company brands like Bubba Gump Shrimp Co and Morton’s Steakhouse will follow suit. Fertitta whose NBA team Houston Rockets also started accepting BTC payments, outlined the simplicity of crypto transactions adding they are here to stay:
“This is where it is, and it’s inevitable that this was going to happen.”
Right after the interview, Muscle Maker outlined similar plans with the company operating Muscle Maker Grill, Healthy Joe’s MMG Burger Bar and Superfit Foods said that it will start accepting BTC payments as an alternative to credit, cash, and debit cards. The CEO Michael Roper said:
“The acceptance of bitcoin is a natural progression for companies looking to stay relevant. Millennials are in search of healthy food, giving them the ability to pay with a cryptocurrency makes it even easier to eat healthily.”
Apart from food purchasers, the users can also use cryptocurrency to buy properties. Argentine’s giant e-commerce market Mercado Libre also announced that it had listed numerous apartments, townhouses, houses, and land as well as plenty of other properties in Buenos Aires, Cordoba, and Santa Fe. The statement touched upon a growing role of digital assets in the region and Mercado Libre even hosted a webinar in which it educated viewers on how they can employ crypto. With the food chains joining in, the number of BTC accepting companies is increasing.
