2Gen Blockchain phone to be launched by the Electronics Giant HTC by the end of 2019 according to the latest cryptocurrency news coming from the Taiwanese corporation.
The news was announced in the English-speaking Asian IT media outlet Digitimes earlier today. The new 2Gen blockchain phone will be launched before the year ends. The chief decentralized officer of HTC Phil Chen, says that the development aims to boost the sales of HTC’s smartphones and to also expand and improve the blockchain ecosystem of the company.
HTC previously had plans to launch a first generation blockchain-centric smartphone as we previously reported in our altcoin news, which was named ‘’Exodus’’. The product launched later in 2018. Chen also revealed that the sales performance for the Exodus smartphone reached the company’s expectations. The company also pointed out that in addition to Ethereum (ETH) and Bitcoin (BTC) users, crypto startups have been demanding the product in a large portion.
The new 2Gen blockchain phone model will extend the support for the blockchain apps to multiple areas including messaging, social media and web browsing. The new addition to the blockchain phone despite the already-existing support for crypto management will only improve the performance of the phone alongside with the personalized e-wallets.
The new communication blockchain apps for the HTC blockchain phone will be based on peer-to-peer connections rather than being conducted on a cloud or mainframe boards as the first blockchain phone according to Chen. He says that there was an incredible success of the centralized consumer apps such as the Uber taxi service app and the popular booking website Airbnb. This has set the bar for the new blockchain apps and developing technologies even higher.
Phil Chen also led a $50 million blockchain-focused venture capital named Proof of Capital in partnership with HTC. This partnership was created in order to allow portfolio companies to collaborate with the company and to develop services for the Exodus or other blockchain initiatives for the tech giant.
At the start of April, the blockchain smartphone startup Sirin Labs fired a quarter of its employees after the launch of the blockchain smartphone at the end of 2018.
